Authorities on Sunday advised communities along Mae Prachan and Phetchaburi rivers to stay alert for possible floods. The Phetchaburi River would therefore breach its banks and flood riverside and low-lying areas in Muang and Ban Laem districts. Mr Thongplew said he had alerted provincial authorities to be vigilant and reinforce river banks at vulnerable areas along the Mae Prachan and Phetchaburi rivers. The floodwater in most parts of the municipality and surrounding areas of Muang district has been drained out on Sunday after four days of flooding triggered by heavy rain early in the week. However, dozens of pumps and the so-called “water-pusher” powerboats supplied by the navy are running around the clock to flush floodwater from the Phetchaburi river into the sea.
